Stix & Stones Meat Wagon

Tucked away in the heart of Belfast at 12-14 Wellington Place, Stix & Stones Meat Wagon is far more than just a restaurant - it’s an experience that pulls you in with smoky aromas, buzzing energy, and a menu that feels like a love letter to meat and seafood lovers. Whether you're craving a quick bite during lunch or looking for a cozy dinner spot, this place effortlessly fits the bill.

From the moment you step in, the vibe is welcoming and a bit rustic with a modern twist - exactly what you’d want from a smokehouse-style eatery. If you’re searching for a BBQ restaurant in Belfast that balances bold flavors with laid-back charm, Stix & Stones Meat Wagon delivers.

Let’s start with what matters most - the food. Their Smokehouse Platter is a beast of a dish and probably the best way to sample what Stix & Stones does best: pulled pork, fall-off-the-bone ribs, juicy wings, and sausage, all smoked to perfection. It’s the kind of platter that demands an appetite and rewards every bite with deep, layered flavor. It also pairs like a dream with a cold Rockshore Lager or a crisp Sauvignon Blanc.

Seafood fans are covered too. The Seafood Linguine is surprisingly elegant for a smokehouse setting - light yet full of flavor. For something heartier, the Chowder is a must-try; creamy, comforting, and loaded with fresh seafood. If you’re feeling adventurous, go for the Oysters with Breadcrumbs, Basil, and Garlic. It’s an unexpected standout and an Instagram-worthy plate to boot.

Need something more casual? The Loaded Fries and Chicken Wings are crowd-pleasers. And don’t even get me started on the Shrimp Tacos - spicy, crunchy, and bright with citrus. It's the kind of dish you’ll order “just to try” and end up hoarding the whole plate.

Desserts at Stix & Stones deserve a moment of their own. The Sticky Toffee Pudding is gooey and rich, topped with warm sauce and just enough ice cream to keep things balanced. Or, if you’re into something a bit more delicate, the White Chocolate Cheesecake hits that creamy-smooth sweet spot. This place doesn’t just serve dessert - it nails it.

In terms of offerings, they’ve got the full bar lineup: craft beer, cocktails, wine, spirits, and coffee for those who like to end a meal with a pick-me-up. The cocktail list leans refreshing and citrusy, with a few smoky options that echo the food.

The space itself is great for solo diners - plenty of tables where you won’t feel out of place pulling out a book or laptop during lunch. It's also a go-to for locals who want a casual but quality dinner without the stuffiness of fine dining.

Accessibility-wise, the restaurant is on point: wheelchair-accessible entrance and seating, making it inclusive without making a big deal about it.

This spot has gained popularity not just for its flavorful dishes but also for its consistency. If you’re Googling best ribs in Belfast or top lunch spots near City Hall, you’ll likely land here. And there’s a reason for that. The quality of ingredients, the balance between meat-heavy comfort food and lighter seafood options, and a chill-but-not-lazy atmosphere make it one of the top casual dining spots in Belfast.

It's also a place you can trust for a quick takeaway or a proper sit-down - both options come with the same attention to flavor and service. That’s rare. The team here manages to keep things relaxed without dropping the ball on details.

So if you're anywhere near Wellington Place and your stomach starts to rumble, trust your gut - head to Stix & Stones Meat Wagon. Whether you're diving into Fish and Chips, savoring a glass of wine with your Sea Bass, or indulging in a slab of Full Rack of Ribs, you’re in for something memorable.

Popped in for a quick bite. Burgers were amazing. The chips were really good. Lots of places are let down by serving dodgy chips but these were great. Burgers were big and super tasty. We also bagged some free cocktails as they were testing some for the Valentines Day crowd. Friendly and attentive servers. The table next to us had a platter and the ribs looked amazing!

If you're looking for one of the best burgers in Belfast, Stix & Stones is the place to go! I ordered the Wagon Burger, and it was absolutely fantastic. The brioche bun was soft, the salad was cut perfectly, and the sauce was just beautiful. Plus, the fries were spot on—crispy and delicious. The service was great too, really friendly and attentive, which made the whole experience even better. Everything was done right, and I can honestly say it’s the best burger I’ve had in the city. Highly recommend giving this place a try!

I visited this restaurant during my short trip to Belfast and it was amazing. So far this is the best linguine pasta that I ever had. The taste and the portion was epic, staffs were wonderful and ambience of the restaurant was really nice. I enjoyed my dinner very much.

Pretty good!! First tartar sauce I've had that I actually liked and the salad was very well dressed which was a nice touch. Seemed very expensive for fish and chips though, and they kind of rushed me - they tried to take my plate twice before I was done even though i was only there 45 minutes in total and was one of 3 or 4 tables in the whole restaurant
